Project Developer

Remote, USA
The Project Developer (PD) will manage the development of new projects from the Preliminary Scoping phase to the Final Contract for turnkey energy conservation, reliability, and capacity projects. 

Travel expectations:  Projects through the United States and Canada.   It is the role of the Project Developer (PD) to visit sites where projects are being scoped to verify as-built conditions as necessary.  Travel for this role is on an as-needed basis, but is estimated to be between 50% and 60% of the time. 

Responsibilities
In this role, the essential job functions of the PD include:

Business Development
  • Expert knowledge of the business development process steps; understand key milestones, deliverables, and necessary tasks.
  • Understand client needs and refer to these during scope development and in final documentation.
  • Develop project scope, budget and schedule and manage through the development process.
  • Ability to close on project by discerning which issues require detail and which issues are not required.
  • Establish reasonable client expectations, be honest and forthright with the client and internal management staff on all aspects of the project being delivered.
  • Responsible for all project development processes, reviews, and final project documentation for assigned projects.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills to work with clients and coach development staff on proper communication to the client during project development process.

Engineering
  • Understand mechanical and electrical design principles to direct engineers in final project scope development.
  • Knowledge of engineering process steps for each product offering.
  • Understand how to check and verify energy savings results and baseline modeling procedures have been completed correctly.
  • Knowledge of how to use various forms of measurement and verification protocols and apply these protocols so that the client receives sufficient validation of achieved energy savings. Develop measurement and verification plans in the final engineering planning session and verify proper documentation of measurement and verification plans at the risk review stage of project development.
  • Develop clear and concise statement of work documents for subcontractors to prepare competitive bids to company
  • Be aware of building codes to develop appropriate scope and pricing.
 
Project Management
  • Extensive knowledge of company pricing system and spreadsheets, ensuring that all items are included and priced in the scope to establish a final price to submit to the client.
  • Understand how multiple contractors need to be involved in the installation phase during a project.
  • Coordinate multiple resources to develop quality projects in a timely manner with efficient use of project resources.
  • Understand and mitigate risk exposure regarding construction cost, energy savings expectations/guarantees, and litigation exposure.
  • Develop subcontractor scope documents 

Administration
  • Produce complete project binder to include forecasted revenue/costs, and project scope.
  • Publish quality contract documents, technical energy audit reports, and other documents to communicate to the client the work that was completed to substantiate the project.
  • Responsible for easy and timely transition of projects from sales to operations. This transition will result in few client surprises in expectations and projects delivered within pricing expectations.

  • Expert knowledge in four of the six Project Developer skills categories
  • At least ten (10) years of experience in sales, project management, or engineering
