Job Description:
The Mechanical Special Projects Director will be responsible for estimating, selling,
overseeing and managing the execution of complex and specialized mechanical
projects from conception to completion. This role requires a strategic thinker with a
strong technical background in mechanical services, exceptional project management
skills, and a proven track record in delivering successful outcomes on time and within
budget.
Key Responsibilities:
• The Special Projects Director assumes responsibility for meeting the revenue and gross
profit goals, sales, and sales margin goals on their assigned accounts
• Develops excellent customer relationships by positioning the company to be the first call,
preferred source for operational maintenance and improvement of the customers
mechanical systems
• Proactively analyzes mechanical systems to develop repair, replacement, upgrade, or
retrofit recommendations for customers, and presents findings/estimates to the customer
with the goal of closing a sale and providing excellent customer service
• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of specialized mechanical projects, ensuring
adherence to project scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to define project
requirements, objectives, and specifications.
• Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and monitor progress against
milestones and key performance indicators.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies, and implement effective
strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure project success.
• Lead and manage project teams, including internal staff and external contractors, to
ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.
• Coordinate the procurement of materials, equipment, and services required for project
execution, and ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor project budgets, expenses, and resource allocations, and implement cost-control
measures to maximize profitability and minimize overruns.
• Communicate regularly with key stakeholders, including clients, project sponsors, and
executive management, to provide updates on project status, milestones, and risks.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery processes,
methodologies, and tools, and promote a culture of innovation and excellence.
• Understands the company’s capabilities and actively collaborates across the branch to
ensure a seamless customer experience and capture additional wallet share through the
deployment of personnel and/or staff needed to propose the companies full suite of
services.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards,
and promote a culture of safety awareness and risk mitigation.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or related subject; or relevant field and/or
professional experience
• Proven track record of success in estimating, selling, managing and delivering complex
mechanical projects, with at least 5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Strong technical expertise in mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing,
refrigeration, and industrial equipment.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities, with the ability to inspire, motivate,
and develop project teams.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to
effectively engage with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
• Proficiency in project management software tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
