Controller

The role requires an individual with strong communication skills, management experience and technical experience in accounting and related day-to-day tasks, month end close activities, financial reporting, and familiar with project management environments.

You must also be comfortable taking a hands-on approach at inception.

Responsibilities :
 
  • Integrate this new scope of business into the existing financial software systems (Sage Intacct, Salesforce, Avalara, Nexonia, and Docupeak) and manage implementation of new software tools as necessary for operations’ unique needs
  • Oversee and contribute to the AR activities and cash flow management (timely billing and collections) and AP activities (PO/invoice reconciliation and processing including payments selection)
  • Oversee and contribute to the monthly close process including projects review with the operation team, revenue recognition and accruals.
  • Monitoring of contract(s) to ensure correct revenue recognition and to track profitability.
  • Contribute to financial forecasting; ensuring the business has the analysis and information it needs to understand the past, manage the present and anticipate the future; work together with GM and team. 
  • Help negotiating and agreeing terms of operational contracts, in particular financial arrangements.
  • Ensure appropriate financial and other internal controls are in place and in alignment with corporate/parent company standards.
  • Oversee other related areas such as tax compliance, insurance requirements or claims, asset management, procurement process as necessary.
  • Eventually build and manage a team of at least 2 direct reports (AP/AR/staff accountant)

Essential Skills and background requirements:
  • Minimum 5-years successful experience in a Controller or Finance Manager position
  • Mix of public and private accounting experience (Big 4 a plus)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, Masters a plus
  • CPA designation is highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP (IFRS experience a plus)
  • Acts with integrity and has a strong ethical and moral compass
  • Strong technical skills with financial management software preferred
  • Solid presentation skills with ability to summarize effectively for different audiences
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to take initiative in owning projects with the support of the teams (local team or Corporate Finance department)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills is a must
