Job Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations of their mechanical contracting business in Nashville, TN. This role is responsible for ensuring efficiency, quality, and profitability across all mechanical contracting projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping installations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of mechanical systems, and experience managing teams, budgets, and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the mechanical contracting division, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency and profitability.
  • Manage project managers, field supervisors, and technicians, ensuring productivity and adherence to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to maintain strong business relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry codes, and company policies.
  • Monitor project performance, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Identify and mitigate risks that could impact operations or project success.
  • Work closely with senior management to develop and execute company growth strategies.
  • Oversee procurement, inventory management, and cost control efforts.
  • Drive process improvements, technology adoption, and workforce development initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years in operations management within the mechanical contracting, HVAC, or construction industry.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business management, mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Certifications: OSHA 30, PMP, or other relevant industry certifications are a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    • Proficiency in project management and construction software (Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam, etc.).
    • Deep knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical contracting processes.
    • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
    • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
