Mechanical Construction Project Manager
GENERAL PURPOSE: The Mechanical Construction Project Manager leads full-cycle delivery of mechanical retrofit and construction projects, with a strong focus on HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, piping, and mechanical infrastructure upgrades. This role manages large, complex projects in the Greater Boston area.

In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and internal teams. You will ensure work is delivered safely, on time, on budget, and in alignment with technical, regulatory, and documentation standards. This is a high-responsibility, high-visibility role requiring 7-10 years of experience and the ability to manage field and office demands with minimal oversight.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

KEY RESPONSIBILITY: Project Leadership & Execution
  • Lead mechanical construction projects from planning through commissioning.
  • Manage HVAC, boiler, chiller, mechanical piping, and control-heavy retrofit projects.
  • Oversee all field operations: safety, quality, daily coordination, and schedule control.
  • Coordinate with mechanical engineers, HVAC contractors, operating engineers, and client facility teams.
  • Lead job-site meetings, daily stand-ups, and contractor coordination sessions.
  • Ensure all mechanical installations meet design intent, code requirements, and client expectations.
  • Provide clean updates to clients, internal stakeholders, and leadership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY: Project Management & Documentation
  • Serve as the main client QC for the full project lifecycle.
  • Build and maintain project schedules, resource plans, and risk logs.
  • Manage multiple projects at different stages across the region.
  • Direct change order management, submittals, RFIs, and close-out packages.
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and captures in required systems.
  • Lead the use of Procore (or similar tools) for documentation, reporting, and compliance.
  • Support decarbonization and sustainability goals in project planning and delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY: Financial & Administrative Oversight
  • Manage project budgets, cost tracking, revenue forecasting, and margin performance.
  • Partner with Project Accounting on invoicing, financial compliance, and collections.
  • Track profitability, utilization, bill rates, and cost exposure across all assigned work.
  • Prepare and review all required project documentation: setup forms, meeting minutes, schedules, financial updates, and status reports.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY: Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with sales, engineering, PMs, and subject matter experts to scope work.
  • Support handoffs between design, construction, and commissioning.
  • Identify upsell opportunities and coordinate with Account Managers.
  • Work closely with the Boston Operations team to manage upcoming workload, capacity, and critical staffing gaps.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5-10 years of mechanical construction or mechanical project management experience.
  • String knowledge of HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, and mechanical retrofit workflows.
  • Proven ability to manage field installation teams and coordinate contractors.
  • Experience reading technical drawings, schematics, and mechanical design packages.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage schedule, budget, and documentation for most complex projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Business, or related field).
  • Must be based in the Greater Boston area and able to travel frequently to local client sites.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent technical background.
  • PMP, LEED, or related certification.
  • Experience with public-sector mechanical projects
  • Experience with Procore or similar construction management tools.
  • Experience with large-scale mechanical upgrades in hospitals, industrial plants, data centers, or transit facilities.

  • Regular exposure to mechanical rooms, active construction sites, and industrial environments.
  • Standing, walking, and climbing as needed for site inspections.
  • Office work including meetings, documentation, and virtual collaboration.
