Solar Service Manager

Location: Remote – Based in California or Arizona (Travel Required)

About the Role

Our client, a fast-growing energy services organization (ESCO), is seeking a Solar Service Manager to oversee service operations, customer support, and field performance across distributed solar and renewable energy projects. This leader will be responsible for driving service excellence, ensuring system uptime, and managing all post-installation service activities across California and Arizona.

This is a high-visibility role with direct impact on customer satisfaction, long-term system performance, and regional growth. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise in solar PV systems, field operations, troubleshooting, and customer experience.


Key Responsibilities

Service Operations & Leadership

  • Lead and manage solar service operations across CA and AZ, including technicians, subcontractors, and support partners.

  • Develop, standardize, and continuously improve service processes, SLAs, and quality standards.

  • Oversee dispatching, work order management, and field performance.

Technical Oversight

  • Provide technical expertise for troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of commercial and distributed solar PV systems.

  • Support commissioning, system optimization, and performance evaluations.

  • Ensure all work complies with NEC, OSHA, AHJ, and company safety and quality guidelines.

Customer Support & Relationship Management

  • Serve as primary escalation point for service issues involving commercial customers, utility partners, and internal teams.

  • Maintain strong communication with customers regarding maintenance schedules, system performance, and issue resolution.

  • Ensure high customer satisfaction and timely communication on service activities.

Performance & Reporting

  • Track and report on service KPIs (uptime, response time, cost per ticket, technician productivity, etc.).

  • Conduct root-cause analysis to identify long-term improvements and recurring system issues.

  • Manage service budgets, parts inventory, and vendor relationships.

Travel & Field Presence

  • Perform site visits across CA and AZ to support troubleshooting, quality checks, customer meetings, and technician oversight.

  • Approximately 30–50% travel required, depending on project activity.


Qualifications

Required

  • 7+ years of experience in solar PV service, O&M, or field operations

  • Strong understanding of solar PV system components (inverters, combiner boxes, racking, monitoring platforms, etc.).

  • Experience managing field technicians or service teams.

  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and diagnosing field issues.

  • Working knowledge of NEC, OSHA requirements, electrical safety, and arc-flash standards.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently across CA and AZ.
