Job Title: Site Superintendent
Location: Greater Chicago Area (on-site)
Reports To: Project Manager / Director of Construction
The Site Superintendent is responsible for the overall coordination and supervision of daily construction activities on assigned projects. This role ensures that work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents and quality standards. The Site Superintendent serves as the on-site leader and primary point of coordination for subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
Oversee all daily field operations from project mobilization through closeout.
Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
Maintain a consistent on-site presence to monitor productivity and progress.
Facilitate effective communication between field teams and project management.
Develop and manage short-term construction schedules aligned with the master project schedule.
Sequence work activities to ensure efficient workflow and minimize delays.
Coordinate material deliveries and equipment usage to support project timelines.
Identify potential scheduling conflicts and proactively implement solutions.
Enforce job site safety standards and ensure compliance with OSHA and local regulations.
Conduct safety meetings and maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.
Coordinate inspections and ensure compliance with building codes and contract requirements.
Monitor construction activities to ensure work meets project specifications and quality standards.
Perform regular site inspections and address deficiencies promptly.
Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, and photographic documentation.
Manage punch list completion and final inspections during project closeout.
Identify and resolve field issues related to design, materials, subcontractors, or logistics.
Communicate project updates, risks, and milestones to project leadership.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, inspectors, and owners as required.
Oversee final inspections, punch list completion, and turnover documentation.
Ensure proper site cleanup and demobilization procedures are completed.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Site Superintendent or similar field leadership role.
Strong knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and safety regulations.
Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors and coordinate complex project activities.
Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Proficiency in construction management software and documentation tools preferred.
