Commissioning Engineer

New York, NY

Our client, one of the fastest-growing engineering firms in the U.S., is building a strong national reputation for delivering high-performance, sustainable building systems and tackling some of the most complex MEP/FP projects in the market. And they are looking to bring on a Commissioning Engineer to their NYC team!

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who wants real project ownership early in their career. You’ll be actively involved in leading commissioning efforts across a mix of project types and sizes, while working closely with senior leadership who are invested in mentoring and developing you into a Project Manager.

Role Overview:

  • Lead and execute building and systems commissioning activities across both new construction and existing facilities

  • Evaluate site conditions, systems, and equipment to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and performance requirements

  • Develop key documentation including commissioning plans, reports, and system validation protocols

  • Support LEED commissioning efforts (Fundamental, Enhanced, and Monitoring-Based)

  • Deliver detailed reports with recommendations to optimize building performance and energy efficiency

  • Create and present technical data, including charts, calculations, and system analyses

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously across various phases (design, construction, and warranty)

  • Collaborate directly with clients, contractors, architects, and internal teams as a key project representative

  • Travel locally to project sites, with occasional travel to other major markets as needed

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in commissioning or MEP design

  • Strong technical writing skills, particularly around commissioning documentation (CMPs, URS, FAT, SAT, PFT, FT, etc.)

  • Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems

  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and work effectively in construction environments

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or related field), or equivalent experience

This is an opportunity to join a firm that’s not just growing, but investing heavily in its people; giving you the runway to take on leadership responsibility and make a real impact on high-profile projects.
