Purpose of Job:

The Fleet Manager is responsible for leading all forms of fleet services company wide. This includes defining and leading the company’s fleet strategy in conjunction with the COO and CFO, working with our Fleet Management Company on vehicle sourcing programs, managing the fleet fuel and maintenance programs, fleet design and optimization, and anticipating the organization’s fleet needs and including appropriate key stakeholders in the management of the fleet program. The successful candidate will have fiscal responsibility for all fleet related activities and develop the fleet program to deliver ever-improving fleet solutions.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain the plan and associated deliverables for the Fleet function including vendor strategy, lease versus buy analysis, maintenance programs, negotiating with key suppliers, and fuel management

  • Lead best practices identification with an emphasis on continuous improvement in our management of the fleet and driver performance

  • Work with business leaders on effective use of fleet and management of vehicles, fuel, etc. while working to meet KPI including maintenance spend, fleet spend, and other metrics

  • Accountable for the fleet procurement process to meet company strategy and anticipated fleet growth through our business acquisitions

  • Manage vendor relationships and performance over a range of key performance indicators, such as on time delivery performance, maintenance performance and cost

  • Be the 'expert' in Fleet regulatory requirements, industry trends and best practices, technology solutions and customer requirements, proactively managing risks and opportunities in each

  • Ensure fleet safety throughout the process; include best practice safety equipment in vehicles, work with General Managers to ensure compliance with safety equipment by drivers

  • Manage claims related to vehicle incidents in partnership with the Director of Safety

  • Leads the development of the annual Fleet budget, monthly budget variance analysis cost reconciliations, partnering with our finance team

  • Management of multiple cost savings projects - scope definition, planning, documentation / vetting, timeline execution, and leadership of cross functional teams

  • Work with the leadership team to negotiate and manage vendor rebate and discount programs

  • Responsible for the review of all service, project, and vendor contracts

  • This role may require limited travel up to 10% travel

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or related discipline (Transportation, Operations, etc.) or 10+ years of equivalent experience

  • MBA or advanced degree is a plus

  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience working in a Fleet Management role

  • Demonstrated understanding of end-to-end fleet supply chain strategy is fundamental to this challenging role

  • Must have experience in procuring (purchasing) fleet and on road fuel across the United States

  • Experience in industry trends and best practices for emerging Fleet solutions
