Job Details Description A leading mechanical services provider in the Kansas City metro area is seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead a $50M+ operation into its next phase of growth. This role is responsible for overseeing all service and operations functions, including union field technicians, service estimators, and office staff—with the mission of scaling the business while maintaining a reputation for excellence, safety, and customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will bring a proven background in mechanical service leadership, P&L ownership for $50M+ operations, and the ability to balance operational excellence with cultural alignment. This role requires a strong presence in the Kansas City office.
Key Responsibilities
Drive the overall vision and execution of the company’s service and operations strategy to achieve revenue growth.
Lead organizational change initiatives while fostering alignment with company culture and values.
Partner closely with sales leadership to ensure operational excellence supports business development goals.
Manage all day-to-day operations across a team of 100+.
Ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery that meets safety, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
Oversee scheduling, dispatch, estimating, and customer service functions to maintain operational efficiency and client satisfaction.
Maintain strong vendor and supplier relationships to support service operations.
Take full ownership of departmental P&L performance, ensuring profitability, efficiency, and growth.
Develop, manage, and report on budgets, forecasts, and KPIs.
Monitor operational costs and implement strategies to optimize margins.
Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and accountability for all operational staff.
Support recruiting, training, and retention of top talent, including union technicians and office staff.
Conduct performance reviews, set improvement goals, and ensure ongoing professional development.
Assess and elevate office-side processes to strengthen efficiency and alignment across departments.
Ensure the company continues to provide exceptional service and maintain strong client relationships.
Monitor market conditions, competitors, and industry trends to identify opportunities for growth.
Represent the organization as a leader in the Kansas City mechanical services community.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in commercial mechanical service operations (not construction).
Proven track record of P&L responsibility for $50M+ operations.
Deep knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, and mechanical service systems.
Strong leadership, organizational, and change management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to build trust and respect across all levels of the organization.
Proficiency with operational and financial management systems, including Microsoft Office Suite and service software.
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field (preferred).
