Professional Engineer - Energy & Engineering Services

Position Overview

We are looking for a Professional Engineer (PE) with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, who can review, Sign and Seal energy tax incentive certifications, oversee an offshore engineering team, and help expand our firm's service offerings. The ideal candidate will possess subject matter expertise in energy engineering (or another engineering niche), with a demonstrated capacity to spearhead new business lines.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Sign and Seal Certifications

    • Review, approve, and Sign and Seal all 179D energy tax incentive certifications produced by our firm.
    • Ensure all certifications meet the necessary technical, regulatory, and legal requirements.
  2. Licensure

    • Obtain and maintain a PE license in multiple U.S. states (potentially all 50 states, as required).
    • Work closely with internal stakeholders to manage the process of acquiring and renewing these licenses.
  3. Technical Leadership & Quality Control

    • Provide technical direction and oversight to the offshore engineering team.
    • Establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for both current and new service offerings.
    • Maintain rigorous quality standards in all deliverables.
  4. Entrepreneurial Growth & Innovation

    • Identify new engineering services or niches (beyond energy tax incentives) that have strong market potential.
    • Lead the planning and implementation of these new revenue-generating services.
    • Work collaboratively with senior leadership to shape strategic vision.
  5. Sales & Business Development Support

    • Partner with the sales team to secure projects in energy tax incentives and other identified niche areas.
    • Serve as a technical expert in client meetings, proposals, and presentations.
    • Advise on feasibility, scope, and pricing for prospective engineering projects.
  6. Collaboration & Team Management

    • Oversee and mentor engineering staff (both on-site and offshore) to ensure high-quality output and continuous skill development.
    • Foster a collaborative, solutions-focused environment aligned with our culture and values.

Qualifications

  • Required:

    • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (in at least one U.S. state).
    • Willingness to acquire licensure in all 50 states (as needed).
    • Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in energy engineering, sustainability, building systems, or similar fields.
    • Ability to Sign and Seal engineering documents relevant to 179D or other energy certifications.
    • Strong entrepreneurial mindset with a demonstrated track record of identifying and developing new service lines or projects.
  • Preferred:

    • Familiarity with 179D and other federal energy tax incentives.
    • Experience in leading and mentoring engineering teams, including remote or offshore teams.
    • Sales support or business development experience (e.g., client presentations, proposal writing).
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex engineering concepts to non-technical audiences.
    • Advanced proficiency in relevant engineering software and analytical tools.
