Energy Engineer Our Client is seeking an Energy Engineer who will serve a key role in identifying and supporting the development of sustainable energy projects. The role will report to the Director of Operations and will support several key areas including energy auditing, utility and facility data analysis, review of technical documents, and support of Measurement & Verification (M&V) on existing projects.The candidate will focus on providing remote energy assessments of customer sites using utility data and facility information in order to establish a preliminary scope of work and associated cost and savings estimates.Occasional site visits may be required however the majority of auditing duties are expected to be performed remotely. The successful candidate will be an experienced and savvy energy engineer with a passion and appreciation for the company mission to lead the way to a sustainable, low-carbon future. They will have a proven track record in auditing and project development in the energy efficiency, renewable energy or other relevant industries. The candidatecan be located and work anywhere in the United States.
Duties and Responsibilities
Analyzing customer utility data to determine usage patterns, consumption totals and trends, and rates/tariffs
Establishing baseline energy consumption profiles and benchmarking metrics including EUI and GHG emissions
Identifying and quantifying energy and water efficiency measures based on remote auditing methods, cost estimating, and energy/water savings calculations
Preparing and presenting audit reports to customers
Occasional travel to customer sites to perform detailed audits of energy consuming equipment
Coordination with development partners (ESCO, etc.) throughout Investment Grade Audit (IGA) phase
Review and analysis of third party Measurement & Verification (M&V) reports
Provide troubleshooting and technical support for projects throughout the operational phase
Ongoing research into new and emerging technologies that fit within pay-for-performance structures
Experience and Qualifications The successful individual will also need to have the following qualifications:
Strong experience with a wide variety of efficiency measures including but not limited to LED lighting, HVAC, central plants, domestic water, building automation systems, heat pumps, geothermal, and energy recovery systems
Strong track record in energy auditing and energy project development, with a particular focus on identifying financially viable projects for eventual implementation
Experience with on-site renewable energy and storage development
Clear communicator, comfortable presenting energy audits to both internal and external (customer) stakeholders
Ability to work with limited data sets and/or facility information while still achieving accurate and realistic results
Minimum of 7 years of experience in energy project development with ESCO or similar company
Strong familiarity with project financial requirements in addition to technical considerations
Ability to manage heavy workload in fast-paced start-up environment with minimaloversight
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and energy modeling software
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) credential preferred.
Certified Energy Manager (CEM), LEED AP, CMVP, or other related credentials preferred.
