Director of Accounting Policy & Special Projects

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Accounting Policy Leadership:

    • Develop and maintain accounting policies in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor emerging accounting standards and assess their impact on financial reporting.
    • Provide guidance to cross-functional teams on complex accounting issues.
  2. Policy Implementation and Compliance:

    • Lead the implementation of new accounting policies across the organization.
    • Ensure adherence to established policies through effective training and oversight.
    • Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory bodies to support audits and reviews.
  3. Special Projects Oversight:

    • Manage and oversee strategic finance projects and initiatives.
    • Drive process improvements and efficiencies within the finance function.
    • Partner with senior management to analyze financial implications of business decisions.
  4. Risk Management and Internal Controls:

    • Evaluate and enhance internal controls related to financial reporting.
    • Mitigate financial risks through proactive assessment and strategic planning.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Communicate financial policies, procedures, and results to stakeholders.
    • Act as a liaison between finance and other departments to foster collaboration and alignment.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required, MBA preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing accounting policy and special projects.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and accounting best practices. Experience with ERP systems and financial modeling.
  • Leadership Abilities: Proven track record of leading teams and managing complex projects. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex financial data, draw meaningful conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Adaptability: Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
