Primary Job Description:  
  
Develop and implement HR strategies compliant with federal and state laws and aligned with overall business goals. Carry out responsibilities in functional areas, such as staffing, employee relations, compensation, benefit program management, training, employment, labor relations, safety, and personnel research. Tracking of certifications and licenses and workers compensation reporting. Limit risk due to workman’s compensation and other HR claims/issues.   
  
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to) in Human Resources  
  • Develop and implement employee policies, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws 
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements 
  • Promotes positive employee relations through design, communication, and interpretation of human resources policies and programs. 
  • Coordinates recruiting and retention strategies and succession planning process. 
  • Analyzes data, prepares reports, and makes recommendations on a variety of human resources issues.  
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.  
  • Coordinates employee-relations activities and programs including but not limited to employee counseling, interpretation of policies, new employee orientation, and employee recognition programs.  
  • Reviews employee relation’s issues and recommends appropriate responses to management.  
  • Prepares and monitors human resources budget.  
  • Manage the hiring process including drafting and posting job openings, scheduling and assisting with interviews, consulting supervisors on candidate selection and preparing offer letters 
  • Prepare and process new hire paperwork along with conducting new hire orientation including safety orientation 
  • Manage drug and background screening process 
  • Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions 
  • Manage the employee termination process including exit interviews, communication of final check requirements, and timely response to unemployment claims and hearings 
  • Advise team members and management personnel on the interpretation of personnel policies, programs, and procedures 
  • Manage employee benefits including communication, coordination and processing of annual open enrollment activities and conducting monthly benefit orientation for newly eligible employees 
  • Responsible for accurate and thorough employee information in personnel files and in HR software module for active and terminated employees 
  • Provide back-up support to payroll when needed  
  • Track and maintain all workman’s compensation claims by communicating with case managers and a panel of workman’s compensation doctors. 
  • Benefit Packages and Coordination  o Insurance welcome letters with instructions  o Health Insurance Enrollment  o 401K Enrollment   o Employee Assistance Program Coordination 
  • Writing and Enforcing Company Policies  o Disciplinary Practices  o Substance Abuse  o EEO 
o Company Property – vehicles/cell phones/equipment/tools o Payroll change notices  
  • Setting up and maintaining employee evaluations  
  • Recruitment – career fairs, local technology schools, and Opportunity Interactive  
  • Conduct Investigations for all jobsite violations (sexual harassment, employee altercations, etc.) 
  
Qualifications   
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent, five to eight years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Working knowledge of HR laws and regulations. 
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy 
  • Capable of maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism in difficult situations 
  • Professional in HR (PHR) or SHRM-CP certification 
  • Basic competence in duties and tasks of supervised employees. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds. This includes having the ability to influence management when appropriate. 
  • Understands the organizations value proposition and can articulate fundamentals of business and how the units tie together. 
  • Able to champion new ideas, manage change, and execute on action plans. 
  • Experience in all HR concentration areas such as benefits; compensation; workforce planning and employment; employee relations; occupational health, safety and security; strategic management; employee development; and training. 
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills. 
  • Strong business acumen. 
  • Strategic thinker who can see long-term goals and balance against short and intermediate term needs. 
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow. 
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees. 
  • Proficient on Outlook and Microsoft Office Programs   Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to prepare reports and company-wide business correspondence.   
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels. 
  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions. 
  • Creative, flexible, and innovative team player. 
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.  
  • Preferred working knowledge of Spanish 
  • Bilingual skills a plus. 
  

Work Environment
