Plumbing/HVAC Project Manager

Position Overview: Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Plumbing/HVAC Project Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of plumbing and HVAC projects from inception to completion. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and project management skills, along with extensive knowledge of plumbing and HVAC systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with the project team, ensuring alignment with client requirements and project objectives.

  2. Resource Management: Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to allocate resources effectively, including labor, materials, and equipment, to ensure timely project completion within budgetary constraints.

  3. Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures to ensure that all plumbing and HVAC installations meet industry standards, codes, and specifications, conducting regular inspections and addressing any deviations or deficiencies promptly.

  4. Cost Management: Monitor project costs and expenditures, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements while maintaining profitability and adhering to budgetary constraints.

  5. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project delays, disruptions, and liabilities, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and best practices.

  6. Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project progress, addressing any concerns or inquiries promptly, and maintaining positive relationships to ensure client satisfaction.

  7. Team Leadership: Lead and motivate project teams, including field staff, subcontractors, and vendors, to achieve project goals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

  8. Change Management: Manage change orders and contract modifications, assessing the impact on project scope, schedule, and budget, and negotiating terms with clients and stakeholders as necessary.

  9. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, RFIs, submittals, and change orders, and prepare comprehensive project reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; PMP certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, preferably in MEP contracting with a focus on plumbing and HVAC systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of plumbing and HVAC systems, construction methods, codes, and regulations.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale commercial or industrial projects from conception to completion.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage multidisciplinary teams and build positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera, Procore, MS Project) and MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
